    Heavenly Man

From "The Heavenly Man" by Brother Yun:

"If you are a servant of the Lord, let me encourage you to please, please, humbly watch that you don't slip into the same error I did. The Lord God jealously desires us for himself. He is the lover of our souls. If we ever put anything before our relationship with Jesus - even our work for Jesus - then we will be ensnared. If you are burned out, stop! Rest! Your lamp needs a constant infilling of the Lord's oil or your light will be snuffed out. Remember that in repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it...Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!' Isaiah 30:15, 18"

    Spurgeon's Morning & Evening

“That those things which cannot be shaken may remain.”

    Hebrews 12:27

WE have many things in our possession at the present moment which canbe shaken, and it ill becomes a Christian man to set much store by them, for there is nothing stable beneath these rolling skies; change is written upon all things. Yet, we have certain “things which cannot be shaken,” and I invite you this evening to think of them, that if the things which can be shaken should all be taken away, you may derive real comfort from the things that cannot be shaken, which will remain. Whatever your losses have been or may be, you enjoy present salvation. You are standing at the foot of His cross, trusting alone in the merit of Jesus’ precious blood, and no rise or fall of the markets can interfere with your salvation in Him; no breaking of banks, no failures and bankruptcies, can touch that. Then you are a child of God this evening. God is your Father. No change of circumstances can ever rob you of that. Although by losses brought to poverty, and stripped bare, you can say, “He is my Father still. In my Father’s house are many mansions; therefore will I not be troubled.” You have another permanent blessing, namely, the love of Jesus Christ. He who is God and Man loves you with all the strength of His affectionate nature—nothing can affect that. The fig tree may not blossom, and the flocks may cease from the field; it matters not to the man who can sing, “My Beloved is mine, and I am His.” Our best portion and richest heritage we cannot lose. Whatever troubles come, let us play the man; let us show that we are not such little children as to be cast down by what may happen in this poor fleeting state of time. Our country is Immanuel’s land, our hope is above the sky, and therefore, calm as the summer’s ocean, we will see the wreck of everything earth-born, and yet rejoice in the God of our salvation.

    Colorado weekend :)

Last weekend, I was able to head out to Colorado for Eric and Leslie Ludy's Set Apart Girl Conference. It was absolutely fabulous and I was so encouraged and challenged in so many, many ways. Not only through the talks the Ludy's shared, but also through the fellowship with other set-apart girls. :)

One of my CP students (Jenna) flew in on the same day as me, and we got to spend all of five days together, which was absolutely amazing. And no...we didn't talk about CLEPs. Well...at least not that much. :P

The Tijerinas picked us up at the airport. It had been 2 years since I had last seen them, so it was so much fun to catch up!

On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand

"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it." Matthew 7:24-27

Indeed how many sandy shores there are on which we can build our house. Shores that look firm...and even shall I say…appear to be "Christian." But in reality, a house built upon any other Foundation than that of the Solid Rock is ultimately doomed to fall.

As I was reading through and meditating on this familiar passage recently, yes…I felt like singing the song and doing the motions. But I also began to ask, what do sinking shores look like? Surely it meant things like building your house on the things of this world. On the desires of the flesh. And the deceptions of the devil. And goodness...we certainly don't do THAT...right? We boldly profess to build our house on the Lord Jesus Christ, singing songs like, “On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” Or “How Firm a Foundation.” Or “Jesus, you’re my firm foundation.”

But is every area of my life built upon this Rock alone? I’ve been realizing more and more that my foundation needs to be IN him alone. All other ground is sinking sand. Even “good” things and gifts of God...no matter how "good" they are...canNOT be our foundation.

Not marriage. Or the hope of marriage. Not family. Not friends. Not the appearance of godliness. Not the favor of man. Not our bank accounts. Not the comfortableness of this world. Nothing else besides Him. On Him alone must our foundation rest.

Lord, be my solid foundation in every area of my life.
